Established in 1995, the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO) is celebrating its decades of friendship and partnership with Singapore this year, when Singapore also celebrates its 50th birthday.

In the past twenty years, the HKETO, representing the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government in ASEAN, has been fostering bilateral and economic relations between Hong Kong and the ten ASEAN member countries. We have seen strong growth in economic and trade ties between Hong Kong and ASEAN, which has become the city’s second largest trading partner since 2010.  Goods trade between Hong Kong and ASEAN exceeded USD 100 billion in 2014.  Hong Kong and ASEAN are now negotiating a Free Trade Agreement, the completion of which will certainly bring benefits to all parties concerned.  At the same time, people-to-people relations are also growing.

To mark this important year, the HKETO delightedly sponsors a signature cultural and arts festival, “Spotlight Hong Kong in Singapore”, as well as co- organises with its partners a business luncheon, to promote exchanges in the areas of arts and culture as well as economic development. To celebrate the years of friendship and partnership between Hong Kong and Singapore, a Gala Dinner will also be held. Mrs Carrie Lam, Chief Secretary for Administration of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, will be officiating at these celebratory events.

Proudly featuring the soft strengths of Hong Kong as an international art and cultural metropolis, we will bring to our Singapore friends and others from ASEAN music and dance performances presented by the Hong Kong Fringe Club (HKFC) and the Hong Kong Arts Festival (HKAF) Two performances presented by the Hong Kong Arts Festival showcase the youthful energy, the 'anything also can' aesthetic, and the sheer exuberance to be found in this city. Performing are artists involved in the hit indie movie 'The Way We Dance', many of whom will also be involved a new, high octane dance theatre work, entitled Danz Up in the coming Hong Kong Arts Festival - an all Hong Kong Arts Festival presentation which embraces street dance as a major production for the main stage. For more, please visit: https://www.hk.artsfestival.org/en/. at the Gala Dinner. Themed "Hong Kong – Singapore: Growing Friendship and Partnership", some 600 friends of HKETO in Singapore and various Hong Kong communities in ASEAN will be reunited at the Gala Dinner.

Our guests will be warmly greeted by the Starlight Élan Orchestra (Hong Kong) and Swing dancers of Jazz Inc (Singapore) arranged by the HKFC. Those in the mood for dancing to the rhythm of the Big Band music are welcome to join the fun. During the dinner, the HKAF will present a stage production based on Adam Wong’s award winning movie, The Way We Dance, embracing aspiring young dancers’ athletic and dexterous moves.

We promise our guests an unforgettable evening.
