ASEAN Internship Scheme for Hong Kong Higher Education Students

  • Duration: 6 - 10 weeks (negotiable)
  • Timing: Usually between May and August of the year
  • Number of interns per Host Organisation: The more the better, subject to the provision of proper coaching and sufficient immersion in industry environment for the student interns.
  • Honorarium to be provided by Host Organisations to student interns: Optional.
  • Logistical arrangements: Accommodation, transportation, air tickets, insurance, visa, etc., are to be arranged by the Hong Kong Institutions and/or the student interns concerned.
  • Targeted students: The Scheme aims primarily at local higher education students in Hong Kong at undergraduate level. However, students at postgraduate level and non-local students studying full-time programmes in Hong Kong can be included if the Hong Kong Institutions/Host Organisations concerned consider it appropriate, having regard to the age requirements, if any, and the applicable visa/entry regulations of the country where the internship placement is located.
  • Job scope: Host Organisations should provide the job scope in the Job Description Form (Annex D to Key Information), so as to facilitate the matching of students with the Host Organisations.
  • Selection/placement of student interns: Host Organisations can set out specific requirements, e.g. the preferred academic faculty. Individual Hong Kong Institutions nominate students for selection by the Host Organisations, which can conduct telephone or online interviews with the candidates before making offer(s).
  • Coaching: Each Host Organisation has to assign an officer/manager to provide coaching to each student intern.
