Singapore ETO co-organises “Creative Intellectual Property in a Digital World” Seminar in Manila to strengthen collaboration in creative and digital IP

Under the Economic and Trade Express platform, Singapore ETO, together with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and Invest Hong Kong, co-organised the “Creative Intellectual Property in a Digital World” Seminar on September 18 in Manila, the Philippines. The seminar brought together experts from the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines and the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry, a senior representative of the Ocean Park Corporation, and some 80 industry stakeholders to discuss the protection, development, and commercialisation of creative and digital intellectual property (IP). Key topics included the impact of artificial intelligence on IP, the rise of character IP, cross-border licensing frameworks, and strategies for market localisation.
Speaking at the seminar, Director Elsa Hung highlighted that Hong Kong as a premier regional IP trading hub and reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening every link of the IP value chain, from creation and protection to valuation, financing, trading and commercialisation. She also introduced the key highlights of HKSARG’s latest initiatives:
- A competitive Patent Box tax rate of 5%
- New tax-deduction arrangements for IP acquisitions, coming soon
- The IP Financing Sandbox
- The Pilot Patent Valuation Support Scheme for SMEs
- The new Intellectual Property Academy
