HKETO Webinar “Bridging from Crisis to Recovery”

With various social distancing measures in place during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO) in Singapore continued to engage our interlocutors by holding its first webinar on June 29. Titled “Bridging from Crisis to Recovery”, the webinar shared with participants on how Hong Kong rode out the pandemic crisis, what were the strategies adopted to help businesses to tide over their difficulties as well as the opportunities in store on the path of recovery.

Co-organised by Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) Singapore Branch and Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK), and joined by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), the webinar featured speakers including Director of the HKETO in Singapore, Mr Wong Chun To; Director, Singapore of HKTDC, Ms Vivienne Chee; Head of Investment Promotion at InvestHK, Mr Melvin Lee; and Regional Director - Southeast Asia of HKTB, Mr Raymond Chan. During the one-hour webinar, the participants were briefed on the Hong Kong SAR Government's multi-pronged anti-epidemic measures, relief packages to support businesses and save jobs, various initiatives to help businesses particularly small and medium enterprises to internationalise and conduct trade, Hong Kong's latest business environment that remains attractive for foreign investors, and the city's "New Norms" of travel as well as highlights of strategies to revive tourism industry.

The webinar was well attended by audience mainly from the business and academic sectors, and the local Hong Kong community, in Singapore. The speakers also fielded a number of questions after their presentation, on areas relating to the national security law, opportunities at the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and participation in trade shows in Hong Kong.
