HKETO Webinar “Gearing Up for the New Norm”

As part of our continuous effort to engage interlocutors in the region, the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO) in Singapore held its second webinar in mid-August to give participants an overview of Hong Kong's latest situation under the COVID-19 pandemic. It was also the first online seminar conducted for Vietnam.

The webinar titled “Gearing Up for the New Norm” was co-organised by Hong Kong Business Association Vietnam (HKBAV), Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) in Ho Chi Minh City, Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK) and Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) in Singapore. Speakers featured included Director of the HKETO, Mr Wong Chun To; Director of Indochina at HKTDC, Ms Tina Phan; Head of Investment Promotion at InvestHK, Mr Melvin Lee; and Regional Director - Southeast Asia of HKTB, Mr Raymond Chan. Chairman of HKBAV, Mr Michael Chiu, also spoke at the webinar.

Representatives from the government and business sectors in Vietnam and the region were briefed on the Hong Kong SAR Government's multi-pronged approach in combating the pandemic, the relief package to support businesses and save jobs, as well as the opportunities in the post-pandemic era. They also learned about the online solutions available to help enterprises conduct business as usual amid travel restrictions, the city's latest investment environment and its Startup Ecosystem, strategies to revive Hong Kong's tourism industry under the “New Norm”. During the Q&A session, issues including the potential of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the perceived impact of the National Security Law on conducting business in Hong Kong were also discussed.
