The internationally acclaimed Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra (HKCO), with the sponsorship of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO) in Singapore, staged a concert in Esplanade, Singapore on September 1, 2018. Dubbed as “a leader of Chinese ethnic music”, the HKCO performed to another full house of 1,800 audience after its last successful performance in Singapore in 2014.

Themed “Liu Bang, Xiang Yu and the Terra Cotta Warriors” (刘邦·项羽·兵马俑), the HKCO presented an evening of spectacular music, which took the audience through the time tunnel to the Qin, Han and Tang dynasties. The concert has won overwhelming response and rounds of appreciative applause from the audience.

Before the concert, the HKETO hosted a reception for some 200 guests, including diplomats, government officials, leading representatives of the arts and cultural sector, academics, media as well as local Hong Kong communities.

The Director of HKETO, Singapore, Mr Bruno Luk, said in his welcoming remarks that the HKCO, together with eight other flagship performing arts groups and a thousand troupes in Hong Kong, offered around 8,000 performing arts shows annually and helped build the vibrant arts scene in the city. Mr Luk also briefed the guests on the progress of the West Kowloon Cultural District and various government initiatives which helped develop Hong Kong into a prominent arts and cultural hub in the world.
