Summer interns’ gathering in Singapore 2018

July 27, 2018

The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO) in Singapore hosted a gathering on the evening of July 27 for more than 60 higher education students interning in Singapore under various internship programmes this summer. 45 of them joined the 2018 ASEAN Internship Scheme for Hong Kong Higher Education Students.

The Scheme was launched by the HKETO in Singapore in 2014. It aims to provide an opportunity for higher education students in Hong Kong to widen their international perspectives by taking up internship in the ASEAN region which, as a bloc, has been Hong Kong’s second largest trading partner, as well as a fast-growing region with which Hong Kong enjoys long established ties.

The eight UGC-funded universities and three Hong Kong higher education institutions, namely Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Hong Kong Shue Yan University and Hang Seng Management College, are covered by the Scheme. Students of these institutions have responded positively to the internship opportunities offered. About 700 students have joined the Scheme so far, taking up internships at private companies, international organisations, academic institutions, think-tanks, arts and cultural organisations, as well as government organisations in the region.
